Het Iran Comité deelt de bezorgdheid van Amnesty over het lot van De zeven gevangen leiders van de Bahá’í-gemeenschap. Wij steunen deze actie en vragen iedereen mee te doen aan een internationale oproep om rechtvaardigheid. Deze mensen kunnen alleen verdedigd worden door het geluid van internationale stemmen die druk uitoefenen. Ook de Nederlandse overheid is een belangrijke verdediger van de bahá’ís in Iran en uw stem maakt dit werk krachtiger.
De actie houdt in: twee brieven versturen, en aan twee andere ontvangers de beide kopieën van deze brieven zenden. De onderwerpen, in te vullen in de email luisteren erg nauw, aldus de instructie van Amnesty. Dit is precies zo uitgewerkt op het instructieblad.
Hieronder vindt u twee conceptbrieven, geadresseerd aan Ayatollah Sayed ‘Ali Khamenei en Head of the Judiciary, Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, met een instructie waarin precies vermeld wordt hoe de verzending moet gaan.
De conceptbrieven zijn suggesties, die zo overgenomen kunnen worden of gewijzigd.
U kunt daadwerkelijk iets doen om de mensenrechtensituatie in Iran te verbeteren en het maakt wel degelijk verschil uit als u meedoet aan deze campagne van Amnesty International.

We call upon you, for tranquility and justice in this world, to release the seven members of the Baha’i minority: Fariba Kamalabadi Taefi, Jamaloddin Khanjani, Afif Naeimi, Saeid Rezaie, Behrouz Tavakkoli, Vahid Tizfahm and Mahvash Sabet whom Amnesty considers to be prisoners of conscience, held because of their beliefs or peaceful activities on behalf of the Baha’i Community;
We call upon you to drop the charges against the seven, which Amnesty International consider as politically motivated;
We express our concern that if convicted of the charges they are said to be facing the seven could be sentenced to death;
We ask you to ensure that the seven are protected from torture and other ill-treatment;
We urge you to ensure that the seven have access to their lawyers of choice;
We ask you to ensure that the seven will have an open and fair trial.
We are grateful for your willingness to bring peace and justice to this world.
